Our commitment to the environment has led us to conduct an Environmental Management System according to the international standard ISO 14001.
The following are some environmental management actions that we carry out in Soria Natural:
We are committed to proper waste management. All waste materials generated during the different production processes are properly treated and managed.
At the production plant, they are carefully classified according to their nature. Hazardous waste is removed by authorized waste managers.
For example, frying oil used in the preparation of our vegetable snacks, based on potato chips, carrots and beets, is recycled by an authorized company to obtain biodiesel.
The remains from bread making and the fiber obtained in the production of our vegetable drinks are used for animal feed.
Soria Natural is authorized to manage waste through composting.
Thus, the pulp of the medicinal plants that remains after the extraction phase of active principles and the residues of vegetables and fresh plant fibers are composted in our own plant located less than ten kilometers from the laboratory, in one of our crops.
The process consists of drying the residues. Then, they undergo a process of aerobic digestion and maturation that allows us to obtain compost.
When they have the optimum degree of humidity and organic matter, they are used to improve our organic crops.
Soria Natural has installed a photovoltaic power plant for self-consumption on the roof of our production plant in Garray. More than 3300 photovoltaic modules with a power of 997,35 kW have been placed in order to exploit one of the most abundant natural resources in our province, the sun.
This installation allows us to cover our supply needs under normal conditions with green energy. In addition, the surpluses generated at times of low energy demand in the factory are discharged into the grid. The installation helps avoid the emission into the atmosphere of 568,750 tons of CO2 per year.
Since 2016, we have our own Wastewater Treatment Plant, which allows us to carry out a comprehensive wastewater treatment management.
After the start-up of this WWTP, the wastewater discharge parameters of our production plant are similar to a domestic discharge, going directly to the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the municipality of Garray.
